What really frustrates me is when I get 100’s emails from so-called “SEO specialists” promising to get me the best results on Google. Even better, “they Guarantee #1” ranking! SEO spam is getting really bad and sometimes hard for the consumer to identify and the more realistic the spammer makes these emails the more our clients question whether the information is real or not. In this case the spam was made to look “local”.

Here is today’s example received from georgiaojohnstone15@gmail.com :

This company does NOT exist in New Zealand. there is no Website and no phone number under which you can contact them or investigate who is really behind it. I have checked the companies office and NO RECORD. Listing all the areas they service in NZ only gives the user the impression they work nationally and yet a simply search on Google shows this is clearly untrue. I checked the IP the email was sent from and it seems they have already been blacklisted with the DIA (Anti-Spam service). So please treat such spam with caution.

A good indication of identifying spam or unethical SEO companies is looking out for the following:

• Have you received the email from a Gmail account? This usually indicates there is no real website or company behind the service being offered. You cant look them up before engaging them.
• They promise #1 results by using unethical methods such as backlinks and forum spam which are against Google regulations. (when you hear the word backlink delete the email)
• They are not based in New Zealand (if they say they are, ask them how the weather is like).
• They always want to get paid first after contact.

Its always a good idea to Google your email content if in doubt. Alternatively give us a bell and we will review the services offered for free! Please report any spam to us so we can continue reporting these.

With the recent Google updates it very critical you consider carefully who does your SEO, once your site gets blacklisted for unethical SEO it very hard to recover without spending a fortune! Old generation SEO is dead, talk to the specialists about New Generation SEO and how effective it can be for your business.
